There is a bit of a standing joke in our house – whenever The Boy asks what I’m making for dinner, my answer is chicken (whether that’s the truth or not). Although he has become better about it over the time we’ve lived together, along with learning how to eat veges, he doesn’t really consider chicken to be real meat. Thinking about it, my dad and my brother are pretty much the same – its not real meat unless its red.
So my question is this: why is chicken seen as ‘chick food’ (no pun intended)? What is it about chicken that makes it ‘unmanly’??

Maybe it's to do with the size of the animal or the ritual in killing it?
maybe... if its not bigger than you then its not real "man-the-hunter food"!! :o)
yes... theres no much blood in chicken... blood is manly... frozen food is gay...
Ok, if a man thinks red meat is 'manly', then why do they nearly break down in tears and act like the King of Kingdom when they catch a fish and proclaim their right in cooking it themselves (like they are the only gender that can cook a fish correctly).
Explain that.
I think fish counts if they catch it themselves, but not if its from the supermarket. We had fish last night & it got the same reaction as chicken, but I know The Boy loves fishing (and yes, then does the whole King of the Kingdom thing!).
